Project Manila

In January of 2008, a small group from the church had the opportunity to travel to Manila (Philippines) to see the work being done by the King Solomon Learning Centre (KSLC) in the slums of Tatalon, Manila.

Here a small church under the leadership of Pastor June and Milleth Paragus established a small school to serve the children of the slums, to give them an chance to break the cycle of poverty, through education and the opportunities that it brings.

Those who were a part of this team, were so touched and changed by the people they came to know and love, and the significance of the work being done, that a lasting relationship was formed.

Whilst the school continues to provide a quality education for around 300 children, many of them sponsored by people from within our church and others in Australia, social and health issues are a constant threat to the poorest of the poor .

When the plight of these people was brought to the attention of our church family, they imediately embraced these people, and have taken on a social support role with the families of the poorest children. This includes raising funds for vital medical treatment, providing employment opportunities, and sponsoring their children to attend school.
